The Legacy of Steve Jobs Honored by Bay Area Business Hall of Fame

Since the days when what is now Silicon Valley was apricot orchards, the Bay Area has been home to innovation. The start of semiconductor manufacturing at Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 started an entrepreneurial boom that pushes the edge of disruptive technology ever farther. Today, that spirit of innovation has made the San Francisco Bay Area the incubator for innovation in all aspects of technology, and we continue to celebrate the pioneers who “think outside the box.”

Think Different

This month, Steve Jobs was inducted into the Bay Area Council Business Hall of Fame. Jobs is the personification of Silicon Valley innovation, and his vision has had an immeasurable impact on the world. Jobs himself may have explained the impact of innovation best when he wrote the text for Apple’s “Think Different” ad campaign from 1997:

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” (Excerpt from Walter Isaacson’s book, Steve Jobs)

The Crazy Ones

At TeleDynamic Communications we live the legacy of Steve Jobs every day. We think of ourselves as the crazy ones who think differently. We get up every day with a passion for disrupting the antiquated model of business telecommunications. And our clients are forward-thinking business leaders who understand business communications is changing, and are willing to work with us to shape the future.

We know that the service we provide, Voice over IP (VoIP), will transform telecommunications just as the iPod changed music in 2001. Jobs vision for the iPod was to put “1000 songs in your pocket,” delivering a new level of convenience and in the process transforming the world for artists, music producers, and consumers. VoIP has the same potential to transform the way the world communicates:

  • After 100 years, VoIP completely finally ends your reliance on the “phone company”
  • VoIP eliminates the need for expensive on-premise equipment and introduces “pay as you go” communications.
  • VoIP offers superior performance and real cost savings
  • VoIP delivers business-critical communications  anytime, anywhere
  • VoIP dramatically improves customer service by allowing remote and mobile workers to deliver real time voice support.
  • VoIP is infinitely scalable, growing with your business
  • VoIP features redundancy, backup, and security

While our competitors are selling traditional hardware that delivers inferior service and will be obsolete in less than five years, we are embracing the future. We see VoIP as part of the Silicon Valley history of innovation, and our commitment to disrupting telecommunications is one way we honor innovators like Steve Jobs. It’s up to us to “think different.”
